In Summary - EXIN Agile Scrum Master is a certification that looks to confirm both skills and knowledge of the Agile framework and Scrum methodology. Agile Scrum is about working together to successfully reach a goal. Agile methodologies are popular approaches in software development and are increasingly being used in other areas. Scrum practices include establishing cross-functional and self-managed teams, producing a working deliverable at the end of each iteration or Sprint. This certification focuses on adopting Agile or Scrum in the workplace and taking on the role of Scrum Master.

The Concept

Scrum is disarmingly simple. The process, its practices, its artifacts, and its rules are few, straightforward, and easy to learn. On the other hand, Scrum’s simplicity can be deceptive. Scrum is not a prescriptive process; it doesn’t describe what to do in every circumstance. Scrum is used for complex work in which it is impossible to predict everything that will occur. Accordingly, Scrum simply offers a framework and set of practices that keep everything visible. This allows Scrum’s practitioners to know exactly what’s going on & to make on-the-spot adjustments to keep the project moving toward the desired goals.

What are the prerequisites?
The only prerequisite in order to take the EXIN Agile Scrum Master exam is taking the training with an Accredited Training Provider. This training will include practical assignments, allowing you to practice your skills.

Why are there no prerequisites?
It is felt that if you familiarize yourself with the Scrum terminology, you are able to do the exam. The Foundation exam gives you basic knowledge to work in a Scrum Team or an Agile environment. Agile Scrum Master gives you the basic skills to work as a Scrum Master.

Is the Foundation certificate mandatory?
No, it is not. The Agile Scrum Foundation certificate however is highly recommended.

What if I already have a similar certificate, for instance from Scrum.org or Scrum alliance?
EXIN Agile Scrum Master has no prerequisites, so you are ready to do the exam. This certification focuses on a few competences that are not incorporated in other exams: Service Level Management, Architecture Design and Component Integration. The practical assignments offer you a chance to practice these competences in a realistic setting.

Frequently Asked Questions.

How long is the certificate valid?

Forever. Reregistration is not necessary.

How does this exam compare to the exam from Scrum.org and Scrum Alliance?

EXIN Agile Scrum Master focuses on different competences than the other exams. What you learn is very useful in practice, although maybe slightly different. We do not ask for work experience before taking the exam, whereas the same level exams from Scrum.org and Scrum Alliance do. This means that you will have to prove your work experience with your CV to potential employers.
